Samsung is continuing to grow the number of countries supported for its mobile payment service Samsung Pay. We recently reported that Samsung would begin offering the service in Sweden and now it has been released, but in Beta form.
The contactless payment service is much like its competitors Apple Pay and Android Pay services but has the added benefit of being to work with newer Near Field Communication (NFC) as well as older Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) terminals, which countries like the U.S. will really appreciate.
Recently we have seen India join the official list of supported countries. Now, Sweden is also supported albeit in Beta form. The following banks and connected cards are supported: SEB, Visa, Eurocard, MasterCard, and Nordea (register and add relevant cards to your mobile wallet). Entercard, Handelsbanken, ICA Banken, Rikskuponger, and Swedbank will also be added in the near future.
At the moment, only the Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge and Galaxy A5 (2016) are supported, but we should also see the Gear S3 supported soon.
